ABYC’s National Marine Trades Curriculum is structured to provide entry-level training across a broad selection of marine skilled trades in a step-wise, logically consistent fashion designed to facilitate the process of sound career selection. Divided into curricular modules, the training covers:

- Shop and boatyard safety
- Boating safety, handling and navigation
- Marlinspike seamanship
- Boat design and construction
- Fiberglass construction and repair
- Outboard engine systems
- Inboard, inboard/outboard and diesel engine systems
- All marine systems (e.g., plumbing, sanitation, steering, etc.)
- Metal working
- Wood joinery
- Marine finishes
- Marina operations and yard services
- Fisheries operations
- Vessel transportation and storage

Also included are workplace experience and internship components with specific activities to practice and augment classroom-based skills. Each module requires varying commitments of classroom, shop and field experience.
